Once upon a time, (1975) Alison learned
how to make English Toffee from a very close friend, Jeannie. For years,
Alison and Jeannie made the toffee and gave it to their friends for the
holidays. Pretty soon everyone was asking, “Where’s the toffee?” In 1990, with Jeannie’s permission, Alison began her business as Aunt Ali’s Toffee. There was only one product at that time, English Toffee – milk chocolate. Her business began to build simply by word of mouth, truly. While making English Toffee one evening the light bulb went off. Why not dip pretzels in toffee? With that product someone who couldn’t have chocolate or nuts could still enjoy the delicious toffee. It was an instant hit. To this day, the pretzels are hand dipped. After leaving her “day job” selling industrial tools, (1995) Alison was able to focus on her creative side. Now, Aunt Ali’s offers 11 wonderful confection items and 7 yummy snack items. The company is now incorporated and known as Aunt Ali’s Handmade Confections, LLC. Alison Cook is the President and Jim Cook is the Vice President. What makes Aunt Ali’s so tasty? First and foremost, the ingredients are as fresh as possible. Secondly, the product is made to order. Aunt Ali’s is proud to continually make small batches in order to keep the product constantly fresh. Even Alison’s husband, Jim, sometimes known as Uncle Ali, helps from time to time.
